Mobile classic Skipping Stone gets an iPhone remake

Java one-touch classic Skipping Stone has got an iPhone remake courtesy of Korean developer Gamevil. It's out today in New Zealand, which means it'll be out at around midnight in the UK and the US.

Skipping Stone is a one-touch casual game in which you have to tap the screen as an anime-faced rock skips over water. The challenge is all in the timing, and getting the stone as far as possible before it sinks is made more difficult by various octopuses and sea mammals trying to drag you into the blue stuff.

There are four maps - City, Island, Jungle, and Magical World - and also a whopping 32 achievements to earn.

The original Java version of Skipping Stone earned a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award back in 2005. We called it, “a wonderfully fun experience that you'll definitely want to keep dipping into either alone or with friends and it'll probably be several months before you allow it to sink off your phone”.

You can see how it fares on iPhone when it hits the UK and US App Stores tonight for 59p / 99c / €0.79.
