GC 2008: Hands on with Silent Hill Mobile 2

Also on show at Konami's stand at GC 2008 is the second Silent Hill Mobile game, which will presumably be published by Glu in the UK, like its predecessor.

The form is the same, though. It's a point-and-click adventure game viewed from the first-person, with you controlling a cursor that moves around the screen.

When it's near the edge and you click, you turn right or left, or move forward. At other times it's a hand, which when moved over an object, lets you interact with it.

It works well, although our slight reservation is that starting the game from the beginning, there was a lot of moving and clicking, and not much actual action.

Maybe that's a reflection of the tension of its console parent franchise, and perhaps things quicken up as you get into the game, so we're certainly not judging it on that.

The game definitely has the look of the Silent Hill universe right, though (i.e. gloomy and more than a bit creepy).

We're looking forward to spending some proper time with it, anyway (even if it gives us nightmares).
