Just when you think there's no more anyone can do with the match-3 puzzler, along comes a developer which reckons it can.

Canadian outfit, BigStack Studios - originally called Blue Unit and set up by two of the guys behind Sally's Spa - has come up with Sigma.

It's a multiple colour matching game where the action is split between two rotating cylinders that you can pass individual pieces between by tapping on either side of the screen.

Once you've made a match, either vertically or horizontally, you'll have a couple of seconds to tag additional blocks on to the cluster before the whole thing explodes.

There are three game modes. You unlock ten themes and soundtracks via the Sector mode, compete for a high score in Time Attack or go head-to-head with over wi-fi or Bluetooth in Versus mode.

Achievements, high scores and leaderboards are handled using the Plus+ social network.
