Beeline Interactive has a decent track record of converting animated properties into profitable mobile games, with Smurfs' Village and Snoopy’s Street Fair both attracting significant download numbers on the App Store.

Now, the Capcom-owned studio has revealed that the Shrek series is the latest kiddie-friendly franchise to get the Beeline treatment.

In Shrek’s Fairytale Kingdom, the olive-coloured ogre will have to abandon the comfort of his swamp in search of his one true love, Princess Fiona.

Swamp thing

Beeline Interactive describes Shrek's Fairytale Kingdom as a freemium game with a social aspect, and is working directly with DreamWorks to deliver an authentic Shrek experience for mobile devices.

The eponymous hero will join forces with long-time cohorts Donkey and Dragon to complete quests and mini-games in familiar locations.

Players can customise the realms they visit with characters and structures from the Shrek universe. The game also generates a digital storybook that allows players to relive their adventure once the quest is over.

Though no release date has been confirmed, Beeline Interactive is aiming to get the game in stores during the first half of 2012.
