Time flies with falling grains in iPhone doodle puzzler Sand Slides
Particle effects
There are lots of ways of combining colour coded games and games that get you to draw on the touchscreen.
Sand Slides, from UK studio Logik State, makes a good job of mixing up the two, as you have to guide coloured sand randomly falling from three containers into the chutes at the bottom of the screen.
Falling downIt sounds easy but with the sand falling quicker and quicker from the top, and the particles taking time to slip down into the chutes - and, of course, needing you to cross paths - it gets fairly frantic, fairly quickly.
You can only have three paths drawn on the screen at any point, although you can tap any single path to delete it immediately.
Adding more gameplay, Sand Slides uses Apple's Game Center to offer you 76 achievements to compete, as well as the ability to post your score via Twitter and Facebook.
A universal app for iPhone and iPad, Sand Slides is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p.
