Romans: Age of Caesar is now available on Android and iOS

After being announced over three years ago, Romans: Age of Caesar has finally released on Android and iOS. FireFly Studios, the creative minds behind the popular Stronghold series, announced this co-op city-builder back in January 2020. It eventually launched on Steam in April 2022 and has just made its way to mobile after a long wait.

If you haven’t heard about the game before, Romans: Age of Caesar is a cooperative MMORTS imbibed with city-building mechanics. Think of it as Clash of Clans but with the additional ability to engage in some heated political debates.

The Stronghold series, which released in 2012, was and still is extremely popular on Steam, still clocking in about 100,000 monthly active users. Age of Caesar aims to take its place as it has been touted as a spiritual successor with a dash of new elements.

It features the classic 90s isometric strategy gameplay that has been taken online. Players start off with a city shared by 16 others. Together, they must work together to rebuild Rome and restore it to its former glory. As the city grows, players will need to forge alliances in order to keep the economy stable and introduce expansions to the empire.

There may be 15 others to help build Rome, but the enemies are still far too many. Expect to find hordes of barbarians just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Players will have to fend off their attacks while also protecting the city from other political threats. Rome wasn’t built in a day and these foes will make sure of it.

Once the city seems stable enough, players will move to the senate, where they must climb the ladder of success. The ultimate goal is to become Caesar and make use of all the benefits that come with it. Of course, other players will be after it too, so beware.
