Atari hopes to crowdfund a new RollerCoaster Tycoon for the Switch - will it work?
RollerCoaster Tycoon for the Switch

Atari is, well, switching things up as it works to bring RollerCoaster Tycoon to the Nintendo Switch via investor crowdfunding platform StartEngine. The campaign’s set a goal of $10,000 to $1.07 million, and, if successful, the Switch will get its own original RollerCoaster Tycoon game, built from the ground up especially for the console. Atari Game Partners is teaming up with Nvizzio Creations, the folks who brought you RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch, the free-to-play version of everyone’s favorite theme park building sim. This all new RollerCoaster Tycoon title for the Switch features a classic career mode and sandbox options, as well a few challenge scenarios that will task players with completing tasks with time limits or other restrictions.

The campaign is offering investors the chance to invest in both the highly successful Switch and a well known video game franchise that’s endured for years. Investors will earn dividends on the game’s profits and get a few other perks, including a discount on the full game at launch. You can find more details over at the campaign's official site.

The campaign will run for 90 days, and so far as earned just over $7,000. RollerCoaster Tycoon has become a household name, making it a good crowdfunding bet, especially when targeting investors who might not be super involved in video games.
