Rocket League Sideswipe launches Season 9 with new volleyball mode

Psyonix has just announced the launch of a new season on Rocket League Sideswipe, the mobile version of the superhit sports game. Season 9 brings with it the usual, a new Rocket Pass and a bunch of rewards, but the most striking part about the update is the addition of a volleyball mode, which is a fresh change from the regular football action.

Let’s kick things off by talking about the coolest feature in Season 9 of Rocket League Sideswipe – Volleyball Mode. Gone are the goalposts from the Arena as they have been replaced by a huge net in the centre. Just like the actual game, players can score points by smashing the ball down into the opponent’s court.

Of course, it can’t be that easy because hitting the ball like that requires a lot of airtime, so a regular jump won’t cut it. Players must also position themselves such that they smash the ball downwards instead of just pushing it towards the wall. Without the added oomph, the ball’s just gonna fall on your side of the net.

Ranked volleyball will be a 2v2 battle which involves pairs coming up with unique ways to score points and win the match. Just like all the Extra Modes, this one will be available throughout the current season and will be gone when the next releases. So, be sure to make the most of it!

Moving on, Season 9 paves the way for hordes of new rewards as there is a new set of Weekly, Monthly, and Seasonal Challenges, alongside the Rocket Pass. The Item Shop includes rocking cosmetics like the Pink Reaper Goal Explosion, Black Atomic Blip Goal Explosion, and the Saffron Masamune.

Finally, this season’s special rewards carry forward from its predecessor, with themed Player Banners being awarded for peak rank during Season 9. Season 9 will be available until July 17th.
