Free Rock Band app for iPhone, EA promises to get back on track with music

You might recall that Harmonix recently got bored with Rock Band: Unplugged for PSP and... well, pulled the plug on its music store updates.

Virtual rockers have been concerned that the iPhone edition of Rock Band was going the same way, with new tracks not being added for about a month. But over the weekend a free version of Rock Band landed on the App Store, along with a promise from EA that support is as strong as ever.

"I can assure you that some new premium tracks will soon be available at a low price on the music store," EA told Kotaku.

The free Rock Band app only includes one track to get you're fingers tapping (Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters), but still includes the vocals, guitar, bass and drums to give you the full experience before deciding whether to upgrade your pop group wannabe status.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
