Electronic Arts released some bad news for rhythm-action fans: effective July 31st, they will remove all Rock Band titles from the App Store.

While the titles will still be playable on your iOS device of choice, consumers will be unable to purchase the games or their associated downloadable content after the July 31st deadline.

EA notes that all Rock Band games on the App Store (Rock Band, Rock Band Reloaded and Rock Band Reloaded for iPad) and their associated DLC will be delisted.

Apparently, you CAN stop the rock

This news is a flashback to early May of 2012, when EA accidentally sent an in-game pop-up warning players that the game would be unplayable on iOS devices from May 31st onward.

Sadly, there is no chance of a last minute volte-face by EA on the July 31st deadline: their licensing agreement with Harmonix is ending and they decided not to renew it.

For those who can’t bear to part with Rock Band on their iPhone or iPad, we would recommend reading our guide on how to back-up a pulled app so you don't lose your Rock Band games in the event of a system restore.
