PSP's Resident Evil Portable 'not a remake'
Designed with the PSPgo in mind
At Sony's E3 press conference this year, gaming giant Capcom made a decent effort to get behind the PSP, and gave us an undead flash of a new Resident Evil Portable game.
Like an undead hand jumping out of a fresh grave, that's about all we got to see of Capcom's new handheld addition to the series, though.
Capcom's Chris Kramer has been whispering about Resident Evil Portable over on his blog, and although he's stuck under the umbrella (corporation) of an NDA, he was able to assure us this won't be a remake.
What with the uncertainty surrounding the PSPgo, there have been concerns about straight ports of old games being thrown out onto the PlayStation Store to build a catalogue, but it seems that won't be the case here.
Kramer admits the game is a long way off, but that it's being designed with the PSPgo in mind. Considering the hardware update is essentially the same, this presumably indicates Resident Evil Portable will be a digital download, and could well include multiplayer (possibly Bluetooth multiplayer for Go users).
"I've managed to sneak a look at a very early game design document for this title and all I am allowed to say is: Wow," Kramer explains. "Totally different for a Resident Evil game. More in the future, promise!"
