JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Hall of Trials guide - How to get all your game modes in order

Feeling lost in all the different game modes this bizarre RPG has to offer? Our JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Hall of Trials guide has you covered.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit Hall of Trials guide - How to get all your game modes in order

While I feel like the main appeal of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit is its gorgeous visuals that the franchise is best known for, the RPG still offers a whole bunch of gameplay modes for you to busy yourself with if the eye candy isn't enough. Combat is a pretty action-packed and strategic affair, after all, and it'd be a shame if you didn't enjoy its intricacies to the fullest.

It's very welcome, then, that the Hall of Trials exists to give you all sorts of opportunities to flex your skills, so let me break all those modes down for you in this Hall of Trials guide!

Now, the first thing you need to know is that you have to reach Quest Level 3 to unlock the Hall of Trials, and it's not at all complicated. You simply need to clear daily quests to increase your Quest Level, which will also increase your characters' level cap and reward you with freebies as you go along.

By increasing your Quest Level, you also get to unlock the main campaign and vice versa. It's a way of time-gating the content, I suppose, but you can also look at it as a way to balance out your gameplay and to give you the chance to explore the other modes, which is what I'm going to explain in detail below.

Entrance Exam - Unlocks at Quest Level 3 along with the Hall of Trials

You'll need to keep Giorno Giovanna's flame lit throughout the battle, and you can't buff or debuff him. If the flame goes out, Shadow Sabbath will attack - thankfully, you can debuff him and use crowd control if you need to. You lose if Shadow Sabbath defeats Giorno - he's kinda scary, to be honest, so check your character lineup to keep him at bay.

Now, since your roster will depend on how lucky you are with the RNG gods, it's hard to say which ones are the most effective. But Joseph Joestar is a free SR character you get from the very beginning, and his Hermit Purple's Ultimate lets you Stun and bind enemies with a chance to Immobilize them, so I'd say that's pretty handy for when you want a certain shadowy figure to stay away from Giorno.

Koichi Hirose will also offer his assistance after a certain period of time, so you can tap his icon if you need to put Shadow Sabbath in his place. Reverb Act 3's gravity field will hold him back for 5 seconds, so use it wisely!

Extreme Trial - Unlocks by clearing N3-10 on Normal Mode

So for this one, there's nothing particularly special about the combat - it's just a challenge that scales with the difficulty as you progress. You need to defeat enemy waves with each challenge attempt, and you'll be rewarded based on how fast you clear the dungeon.

What makes this one especially important for me is the kind of rewards you get - Dramatic Scenes! You can equip these onto your character to give them attribute bonuses, each with its own tier and type. Dramatic Scenes have set bonuses as well, which you can also enhance to boost the base attributes - very handy, indeed!

Extreme Trial - Team  - Unlocks by clearing stage Lv. 20 in the Extreme Trial

This is basically the same thing but with two other players in a team. You can invite your friends or go for the online matchmaking to form a team - one thing you need to remember, though, is that characters that you've already used in a round can no longer be deployed in the next rounds, so it's best to strategise with your teammates on how to diversify your lineup for the multiple rounds to come.

SPW Request - Complete story chapter "Gang Invitation"

This mode works similarly to the "adventure" modes you often see in other mobile RPGs where you deploy certain party members for a set amount of time, and they come back with rewards. You can deploy 3 investigation parties simultaneously, with more character slots that you can unlock (up to 5) as you level up. Your characters' rarity will determine how efficient they are, which will reward you with Gold and Investigation Intelligence.

You can use your Investigation Intelligence earned in the Collectible Search tab to search for, well, collectibles. These, in turn, can be used to gain attribute bonuses that apply to ALL CHARACTERS, so as you can probably tell, these are extremely valuable.

Bloody Battle - Unlocks at Quest Level 6

This is the roguelike mode where you defeat waves of enemies with randomised boons that pop up every so often. You need to survive for a set amount of time.

Keep in mind that there are dynamic weather effects that come into play here - a Snowstorm, for instance, can inflict Chill on everyone, which is a debuff that reduces your Attack Speed for 10 seconds by 30%. You can check the weather in the upper right corner of the screen before starting the battle.

World Boss - Unlocks by clearing N4-10 on Normal mode

There's a single-server version of the world boss and a cross-server version, with the former unlocking the next boss after you get an SSS rating on the current one. The latter will have rotating bosses weekly, with all characters fixed at level 100.

By the way, before prepping for each battle in any mode, you'll see a thumbs-up icon on each character's icon to see if they're "recommended" for the fight ahead. That's useful, as it's not always just the highest damage that gets you where you need to go, so keep an eye out for that.

Uncharted Journey - Unlocks by clearing N5-10 on Normal mode

This one is the most hands-on mode, I'd say, since you really need to "play" it like you'd play Minesweeper. They call it "Exploration" here, but you basically just keep tapping adjacent tiles until you find the exit (or the entrance to the next level).

Each tile you tap will have either empty tiles, prisoners, shops, or the exit, and every tap costs Stamina. You might stumble upon shops or upgrade points where you can grab a consumable (up to three), which may grant you boons like the next tap costing less Stamina or being able to preview the exit.

Sometimes, you might even tap on a rest point, which replenishes your Stamina for a certain amount. It's all pretty random, but there are two kinds if you don't want to bother with the Exploration bit. The Maneuver Mode will have 12 phases with a single final battle, while the Onslaught Mode will have only 5 phases with a battle at the end of each phase.

Personally, I find the Maneuver Mode far too tedious for my taste, so if you're impatient like me, then the Onslaught Mode might be the better option.

Double Clash - Unlocks by clearing N8-10 on Normal mode, coming soon!

And that's it for this Hall of Trials guide! If you're still confused, we've also got a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit beginner's guide to help you out as you begin your own bizarre adventure out there.
