Red Nova, the inertia space shooter from indie Canadian studio Celsius has gained its first content update, and it's a big one.

Originally launched as an endless shoot-'em up, Episode 2: Mercy adds more context as you take on an alien mothership, which is spawning out waves of fighters.

Flying the newly playable Raven heavy transporter, you have to defend different ships from the earth fleet in turn, transporting their crews to safely between the waves.

Fire at will

Other additions to the game include a gun pod power up, that automatically attacks nearby enemies, and better UI - i.e. radar markers now scale to indicate distance to target.

Loading times have also been improved, as has rendering engine performance.

Available now for iPad and iPhone in a universal build, Red Nova costs 99c, €0.79 or 69p.
