Ragnarok M: Classic Global kicks off its closed beta test
Ragnarok, again

- Ragnarok M: Classic Global is seeing its first closed-beta test
- The revamp features a purely in-game currency based economy
- It's already seen huge success in South-east Asian amongst fans
If you're a longtime fan of Ragnarok M, you may lament that Ragnarok M: Classic has been restricted to Asia. After all, who wouldn't want to get their hands on this if they were a dedicated Ragnarok Online enthusiast? Well, rest easy, because it's on the way West, starting with a new closed beta launching today!
Ragnarok M sees the classic return to mobile, this time completely free-to-play with a purely in-game currency-only economy. That means no microtransactions, no gacha and nothing else to interrupt the pure RPG fun to be had here.
If you want to jump in, you'll have to pre-register either on Google Play or iOS. It looks as if there'll be limited spaces for the iOS CBT, however, so you'll want to sign up quickly if you want to be in with a chance of playing.

Zen zeny
As I mentioned last time, it's still a little bit odd to promote the fact you're putting player-friendly practices into something (you mean you weren't already?). But virtually anyone can tell you that focusing more on a balanced in-game economy and not on microtransactions tends to make for a more appealing long-term experience. It's also good to see fans outside of Southeast Asia getting a bit of love. Ragnarok M may not have the same pedigree as something like, say, World of Warcraft, but I've seen plenty of excitement from those of you who loved playing it before. With that in mind, then, we'll find out whether or not it holds up the same as it did before.
Speaking of RPGs, though, if you want to find out what options there are for MMORPGs on mobile, then you're in luck. Check out our list of the best games on mobile like World of Warcraft, for some of our top picks!
