- The team won as a result of their overwhelming points lead
The latest PUBG Mobile esports tournament drew to a close this past weekend, as the PMRC Rondo Cup saw team Yangon Galacticos crowned as winners. This means that the team will be taking home the lion's share of a $20,000 prize pool from the folks at PUBG.
As you might expect, the PMRC Rondo Cup also took place on PUBG's latest (and largest) map yet. The new Rondo map played host to 16 teams who qualified for their spot in the Cup via a number of tournaments, including D'Xavier at PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers at PMCL Spring and R3GICIDE at PMSL CSA Fall.
Yangon Galacticos' win came as the PMRC Rondo Cup instituted the brand new SMASH format rules. Under this ruleset, a team would have to accumulate 30+ points and then a victory in a different match to win. But since no teams qualified for this after 6 matches, the victory went to Galacticos as a result of their overwhelming points lead.

With HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports taking the second and third spots respectively, I'd say that the Rondo Cup has proven to be quite the success for the folks at PUBG Mobile and their ambitious esports plans that've been on the up since 2024.
But at the same time, it is rather ironic that the first tournament to introduce the SMASH rule didn't actually see anyone win via this ruleset. Whether or not we see it make a return will, I'm sure, be up to the organisers who decide if it'll encourage more skilled and entertaining play in subsequent tournaments.
