Runaway Play is bringing a refreshing take on cosy mobile experiences with their latest effort, Pondlife, a tranquil underwater sanctuary where you collect and foster freshwater creatures. Set to release on World Water Day this year, it offers an escape into the calming world of freshwater ecosystems where all you do is celebrate the beauty of nature.
With stunning hand-illustrated art and a soothing soundscape, Pondlife provides a serene environment where you can slow down and connect with nature. Unlike Runaway’s previous success, Splash: Fish Aquarium, this one is grounded in real freshwater species, each carefully researched to reflect the natural world.
The thoughtful design allows you to customise your pond, discover new creatures, and unlock rare species as you nurture them through their life cycles. As the caretaker of your pond, you’ll hatch eggs, feed your creatures, and help them grow. Along the way, you’ll also meet friendly characters like Lily the otter, Brook the manatee, and Willow the beaver, each bringing their distinct charm.

Pondlife is more than just a relaxing experience - it’s a celebration of freshwater habitats. Through its thoughtfully designed gameplay, it emphasises the importance of preserving our natural environments. Whether you’re tending to your pond or documenting your discoveries in the Aquapedia, each moment spent in this peaceful world brings you closer to the wonders of nature.

Speaking about Pondlife, Emma Johansson, Creative Director at Runaway Play, said: “Pondlife is our love letter to the quiet beauty of lakes and rivers, and the amazing creatures that call them home. We wanted to create a game that blends relaxation with the joy of discovery, where players can unwind, explore, and enjoy the simple magic of life by the water.”
Pondlife will release on Android and iOS on March 22nd. You can pre-register now by clicking on your preferred link below.
