Pokémon Unite's upcoming esports finals heat up with Godlike Esports win to represent India

People tend to take Pokémon a mite more seriously than you might expect for a colourful cartoonish battler featuring strangely-named monsters. And in gaming, it's no exception with the upcoming Pokémon Unite Asia Champions League now seeing a freshly-minted participant with India's Godlike Esports.
Fittingly for such a presumptuous name, Godlike dominated the playoffs of the Pokémon Unite ACL 2025 India League to take home seven consecutive wins. It's even more impressive considering the team had finished at the bottom of the rankings in previous days, only to come roaring back to success.
This victory now means that Godlike Esports will compete as India's representative for the PUACL 2025 finals in Japan this year. And with PUACL India's finals drawing nearly half a million viewers on its final day there's no doubt that the overall finals will capture even more of the gaming world's attention.
Given the size and competitiveness of India's esports scene (and with a $40k prize pool on the line why wouldn't you be competitive?), it's no surprise that Godlike Esports put their best foot forward in this tournament. It's also an indicator of just how popular Pokémon's spin-off releases are, as even a relatively less significant title in the esports scene like Unite still draws in hundreds of thousands of viewers and top competitors.
Now, with the upcoming finals in Japan still a ways away we've got the Pokémon Unite Winter Tournament still to look forward to, where remaining competitors will get their final chance to secure a competing place at the prestigious finals in Tokyo this March.
