New Pokemon Platinum confirmed for DS

A few rumours have been circulating online over the last week that a new Pokémon game could be coming, all of which stemmed from a Japanese magazine printing a teaser ad (that hinted a new game was about to be unveiled) on its next month page.

But now Nintendo has officially whipped the dust sheets off its new Pokémon game, entitled Pokémon Platinum. It's also rolled out the official website, although it's all in Japanese so if you're like us you probably won't be able to appreciate much more than the logo and a couple of screenshots on it.

Details about the game are thin on the ground, but it's being reported the game isn't a full new Pokémon adventure and is instead more of an expansion to Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. Still, as it's been over a year since Diamond/Pearl's release, Pokéfans will no doubt be happy to get their hands on something fresh, even if it's not the complete works.

We'll hopefully have more on the game as details flow out of Japan. In the meantime you'll just have to content yourselves with the first two screenshots of the game shown above.
