Pokémon Go will welcome Gigantamax Lapras during the Water Festival next week

The Water Festival is already set to make a splash in Pokémon Go, but there’s more on the horizon. Just before the event wraps, Gigantamax Lapras will take centre stage during a special Max Battle Day on July 19th. For three hours only, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm local time, you’ll have a shot at this frosty powerhouse, and perhaps its Shiny variant too if luck’s on your side.
Gigantamax Lapras brings more than style to your Pokémon Go battles. It arrives with some major boosts for those looking to bolster their battle lineups. For a limited time, the Remote Raid Pass limit climbs to 20, and you can earn eight Max Particles from Power Spots.
That’s on top of increased refresh rates for those locations and 2x Max Particles just from exploring. The Max Particle collection limit also sees a hefty bump, and if you’ve already scooped up all the daily Particles via the Nearby menu, your adventuring distance will count for even more.
To further help you prepare, a free Timed Research line begins July 14th. Complete it to earn a Dynamax Passimian, ideal for rounding out your Max Battle team, along with Candy and additional Max Particles. But be quick - these tasks vanish the moment the Max Battle Day ends.
