The Pokemon Trading Card Game Live is finally launching next month

The Pokémon Company originally announced a new card game, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live, back in 2021. Besides the traditional mode of playing with actual cards, fans already had Pokémon TCG Online to rely on, but it looks like its replacement is finally launching worldwide.

Pokémon TCG Live opened beta testing in a few countries last November, virtually carrying forward the 25-year-old card-based strategy game. From June, Pokémon TCG Live will be the only digital version as Pokémon TCG Online is shutting down for good. On June 5th at 9:00 am PDT, it will be removed from all stores and the servers will be closed.

It’s not like there was anything majorly wrong with the game. It has had quite a large player base and community support even today. The developers just decided that moving on to a complete refresh would be a better option and considering how large the Pokémon TCG family is, it won’t be too long before they adapt to TCG Live.

Do note that migration is still possible and will remain so even after TCG Online closes. There is no deadline per say and players can carry over their account and collection at any given point. The official FAQ has a bunch of important information about the process.

We’re just a month away from launch but eager fans can already drop in thanks to the currently available global beta. Anyone logging into the game before its release will receive a unique global beta coin, deck box, and card sleeves.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Live launches on June 8th. The timing is perfect because the release will be coupled with the latest TCG expansion, Scarlet & Violet – Paldea Evolved. This means that more than 15 new Pokémon ex including Chien-Pao and Ting-Lu will be available right off the bat.
