Make pizzas and apply for a job in Domino's free Pizza Hero game

Have you ever wished that you could parlay your mobile gaming skills into an actual job?

Thanks to Domino's Pizza and its free Pizza Hero iPad game, you can do just that.

With the April update, Domino's has introduced a real incentive to break your high scores: if you complete the Two Pizza Throwdown challenge mode of the game, you'll be invited to apply for a pizza making job.

Noted on your CV?

While some may view this hiring campaign as a gimmick, Domino's may change the way in which companies screen for potential job applicants.

Mensa has already explored games as a potential recruitment tool with its Mensa Brain Test game, so clearly there is precedent for this strategy.

As humans we're hardwired to view tasks and challenges as games, so it makes sense that companies would turn to games to assess vital skills of applicants.

A management game such as Diner Dash could help an organisation test an applicant's ability to multitask and prioritise items under pressure.

Similarly, performance on puzzle games such as The Professor Layton series might help a university assess an applicant's logic and critical thinking abilities.

Thin crust

For those who don't meet Domino's strict pizza making criteria, Pizza Hero offers a generous consolation prize and that also breaks down the walls between your real life and gaming experience.

By selecting Make an Order from the main screen, you can make a pizza as you would in the Two Pizza Throwdown portion of the game and when your virtual master pizza is complete, you can click to order it.
