Balatro wins the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award 2025
Plus shared recognition for Monument Valley, Pokemon TCG, Prince of Persia

Celebrated roguelike deckbuilder Balatro has added to its trophy cabinet by being named Pocket Gamer People's Choice in this year's PG Mobile Games Awards, announced earlier this evening (August 19th) in Cologne.
Balatro conquered a particularly strong field made up of 19 other finalists, and which saw honourable mentions go to the sumptuous puzzler Monument Valley 3, fast 'n feisty Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and the mega-popular Pokémon TCG Pocket.
As the only category nominated for and voted by players themselves – which thousands of you did – the win saw LocalThunk's creation continue its impressive ascention since its assured arrival on mobile last September.
The Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards are run by our sibling site, PocketGamer.biz, and naturally focus firmly on the industry side of mobile games… but the People's Choice is a coveted and hotly contested category – what players play and what they like really does matter to the teams who make the games.
