Just released for a broad range of Java handsets, Penalty Cup 3D pits comic book strikers against goal keepers in a detailed 3D stadium – a floodlit penalty shootout, pure and simple

Well, with a bit of embellishment – you can also choose your gender and nationality and then challenge friends from around the world in online tournaments.

The developer says the game has already brought together a wide community of players in tournaments held over GPRS / UMTS networks.

"With its straightforward gameplay and cute characters, Penalty Cup 3D appeals to both male and female gamers," reckons Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs. "We put a large amount of effort into a set of detailed animations, cutscenes and replays to give the game an extra touch of drama."

Penalty Cup 3D is live on a variety portals; there's also a 2D version for lower-end handsets.
