Ovi Maps Racing now available free on the Ovi Store

Having risen more or less from the ashes of the N-Gage platform a few months ago, the Ovi Store is in need of some killer apps to establish itself as a serious competitor in the world of high end mobile gaming. Ovi Maps Racing, which is an IMGA nominee, is one of the games the company is pinning its hopes on.
And it's out. Even better, it's free for a limited time.
Ovi Maps Racing is a location-based title, drawing on Ovi Maps, in which you can plot race tracks through real world cities and then hurtle around them trying to get the best time.
It's viewed from the top-down, and while there's no true multiplayer you can take on the ghosts of your friends. If you don't fancy making your own tracks you can play a range of preloaded ones.
It plays well, although the standout feature is clearly the track-making facility. It's very easy to plot courses, and when you're racing around the level of detail in the 3D environments is impressive.
We'll have a review on the site in a few days, but in the meantime you'd be a fool not to grab it while it's still free.
