Freemium iPhone and iPad first-person shooter Overkill to be updated with multiplayer mode on March 1st
Double ammo
Developer Craneballs Studios will update its iPhone and iPad first-person shooter Overkill with an all-new multiplayer mode on March 1st. That's this Thursday.
Overkill's forthcoming head-to-head multiplayer experience will feature two different tiers of difficulty: Novice and Elite.
The former tier, which has been designed with inexperienced players in mind, gives you a UMP 45 submachine gun with unlimited ammo and asks you to eliminate slow-paced enemies that only require a few shots to eradicate. Your game will be limited to either 90 seconds or 1,000 points per round - whichever comes first.
The Elite Tier, on the other hand, lets you get your mitts on the powerful M16A4 SPECOPS rifle, which can be customised and upgraded with new stocks, magazines, scopes, foregrips and other add-ons. Naturally, the enemies in this tier are a lot tougher than their Novice counterparts.
There are also leaderboards, flying drones, bonus boxes, and a range of other content not available in the easier of the two tiers.
Boom
When the update arrives, you'll be able to unlock the Elite Tier by spending 30 Overkill Medals (OM). You can earn these in the game through special promotions or via in-app purchases. You can buy 30 OM for 69p / 99c.
Craneballs Studios will also be releasing additional tiers, such as a Sniper Tier, "shortly".
In the meantime, you can grab Overkill from the App Store as a Universal app for free.
