Outfit7 signs up for World Autism Awareness Day with free IAP for Talking Tom Cat app

This coming Monday, 2 April, is World Autism Awareness Day and mobile developer Outfit7 is doing its part to contribute to the Light It Up Blue awareness initiative.

Through a partnership with Autism Speaks, it's donating a t-shirt for its popular Talking Tom Cat app via a free in-app purchase.

The Light It Up Blue campaign normally involves iconic international landmarks such as Bahrain's World Trade Center, New York's Empire State Building, Sydney's Opera House, and the Paris Stock Exchange (among many others) lighting their facades blue to help draw attention to the cause.

But with each passing year, the scope of the awareness campaign diversifies, and Outfit7's initiative is a prime example of how those without iconic architectural edifices can contribute to the cause.

The free Talking Tom Cat t-shirt prominently features the Autism Speaks: Light it Up Blue logo and makes a socially conscious addition to the hit app.

Additionally, Outfit7 plans to donate advertising on its over 300 million-strong digital network to Autism Speaks.

Elsewhere in the tech world, giants like Microsoft, Twitter, and AOL are also doing their part to help contribute to - and raise awareness for - World Autism Awareness Day.

Microsoft released a series of free Office templates while Google plans to light six of its corporate buildings (including Seoul, LA, and San Francisco) in an appropriate shade of blue.

For its part, Twitter has donated an advertising campaign to encourage its users to tweet about Light It Up Blue using the hashtag #LIUB.
