Zelda Notes is a launch feature of the new Nintendo Switch 2 mobile app
A new look at mobile for Nintendo?

- The latest Nintendo Switch 2 showcase recently wrapped
- And while it was lax on mobile, it did show off new Nintendo Switch App offerings
- Zelda Notes integrates with your version of Breath of the Wild to help uncover secrets
With the upcoming launch of the much speculated Nintendo Switch 2, and corresponding showcases, there's plenty for news sites to discuss. But, over here in mobile land things have been a bit light, and it's looking as if a pivot to iOS and Android for Nintendo may still be a pipe dream. However, there are rumblings of how the Switch 2 may integrate with mobile that we have seen.
Take the latest example shown at the most recent Nintendo Direct. Zelda Notes is a new app integrated into the Nintendo Switch app (which is being renamed from Nintendo Switch Online) that links to your Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
In essence, Zelda Notes is nothing too groundbreaking. It's a strategy guide that shows off maps, hints, tips and tricks to help players navigate the world of Hyrule. But it's also exclusive to Switch 2 versions of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which are getting further upgrades in these remasters.

So, what does this mean for us? Well for one, it presents an intriguing crossroads between two handheld gaming devices. It's clear Nintendo doesn't see mobile as a replacement for their usual hardware, that much is obvious, but they also aren't blind anymore to how mobile can support them.
And with further features only hinted at such as daily bonuses, and Amiibo integration, I would hazard a guess that mobile could form a second screen functionality. If so, it'd be an unusual, but smart way to add more interaction capabilities for the Switch 2 while keeping the overall hardware profile the same.
