What do colossal squid and DS and PSP games have in common?
The next eight days in handheld games

Giant squid and handheld games are both very difficult to find at times. But when they do turn up it's certainly noticeable.
That's not really a joke, it's more an indulgence of our current fetish for mega-molluscs. Incidentally, did you hear about the New Zealand fishermen who have recently landed what is thought to be a world record-breaking squid at some 10 metres in length and a diabetes-inducing 450kg? Seriously, Google it.
As far as game releases are concerned, you could argue we've already landed the first catch of the year now that half-term is over. And normally you'd think there's little point checking the nets again until Easter.
But just as those fishermen weren't expecting to dedicate their ship's entire refrigerated compartment to a giant squid, so we never know what will surface when we trawl the schedules.
Which is why we do these updates on a weekly basis. Not because we're gluttons for punishment, or enjoy the challenge of coming up with a different way of saying the same thing some 50-odd times per year, but rather because now and again we discover a number of releases that should have everyone hooked.
Until that time, we'll have to make do with minnows, kippers, and the odd wet fish.
