Want to know what Sweden and PSP/DS releases have in common?

If last Friday's release schedule was the perfect setting for a spaghetti western, this week would make the perfect Swedish arthouse film. Very little is happening, and the stench of death hangs in the air.

Despite what you may have concluded from our writing, we're not manic-depressive – but there is a reason for the bleak opening paragraph above. The summer's Great PSP Hope and the only title due tomorrow, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, has now been pushed back to August 25th.

But, hey, let's put a positive spin on it. At least we know for certain it'll be worth the wait: you can read our review.

That said, as good as it is we don't expect you to re-read Simon Byron's review for the next fortnight. We might suggest popping down to your shops next week and checking out Spin Out, an unexpected PSP release, but we wouldn't be at all surprised if that gets pushed back, too.

As for DS, 500,000 of us might be avidly Brain Training, but perhaps that's partly because there's so little competition right now. In fact, there's nothing new for DS in the next fortnight at all.

So, as suggested last week, save your pennies and spend the time getting round to completing all the games you bought earlier in the year. Because once we get to the end of the month, the release schedule promises to burst into life with the vibrancy of a Bruckheimer production.

Out Friday August 18th Spin Out (PSP) Click on the game title above to buy.
