Verizon offers US customers an Xperia Play for $99 with two-year contract

Some important news for potential North American Xperia Play-ers (see what we did there?): US telco Verizon is now offering an Xperia Play for $99 when you take out a two-year contract of at least $39.99 per month (and an additional data package of $29.99 a month).

Roughly speaking, you'll make a saving of $50 on the handset based on Verizon's previous pricing.

The Xperia Play itself comes with seven games preinstalled, including Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, and Star Battalion. You can download additional games either via Verizon’s V CAST apps service or the Android Market.

Sony Ericsson's PlayStation Certified device features a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, a 5-megapixel camera and, of course, the familiar PS controls.

The Verizon Xperia Play deal is available now in stores and online.
