UK release of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror slips again

The next eight days in handheld games

UK release of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror slips again
|

In our attempt to liven up the summer drought of handheld games, we've likened the release schedule to spaghetti westerns, Swedish arthouse flics, and Hollywood blockbusters. This week's retail roll call, however, looks more like a David Lynch film, in that much of it doesn't seem to make sense.

Take Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, one of the finest games we've played on the PSP. Bizarrely, it's been pushed back yet again. It's almost as if Sony doesn't want people to experience great software on its handheld.

Assuming it sticks to its orders this time, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is currently set for deployment on September 8th. Coincidentally, that's the day you'll now also find Madden 07 hustling its way into shops (though only the PSP version – the DS release is still set for tomorrow).

Before then things continue a little sparse with regards to DS and GBA software, which means first to emerge from the summer drought will be PSP. Gangs of London, Gitaroo Man Lives! and possibly the longest titled PSP game yet, Def Jam Fight For NY: The Takeover are all threatening to turn up next week. No doubt there will be a casualty or two, but at least from now until Christmas you can expect others to take their place.
