The next eight days in handheld games

Two of the biggest pocket games of the summer go head-to-head tomorrow, with the PSP version of Tomb Raider: Legend sauntering into shops on Friday, only to find Nintendo's Dr Kawashima's Brain Training already at the front of the store with an apple. PSP versus DS, legs versus lessons – who needs Germany versus Costa Rica, eh?

Next week inevitably sees the pace drop. A new addition to the Nintendogs' kennel is certainly welcome (that game is now looking a bit of a one-month wonder), and elsewhere Talkman, the language translation wotsit, arrives on PSP in time to help out pocket gamers trying to order a beer in Germany.

But to be honest, there isn't much on the horizon to keep you from your tombs. Or your homework.
