Telcogames goes multiplayer with Viva La Mobile acquisition

Super Puzzle Bobble Multiplayer coming to Europe!

You might not have heard of Viva La Mobile if you don't come from a land down under. Nevertheless, the Australian mobile game publisher has to date focused on multiplayer titles, using its own Redstar technology platform.

Which is rather clever – besides multiplayer, it also allows pay-per-play billing, subscriptions, and community features including chat, high scores and tournaments.

Why are we blathering on about the company? Why, because it's just been bought for an undisclosed amount by European firm Telcogames, which means the Redstar platform is heading our way, complete with Viva La Mobile's own games.

They include Badlands, Rubiks Cubed, Aqua Dig and Fire Frenzy – although Badlands is the one we'd be most interested to play, it being a multiplayer tank battle.

However, the Redstar platform also works with other publishers' games, and one that's been released in Asia using it is Taito's Super Puzzle Bobble (pictured). The multiplayer version will be launching here in Europe, and we're most excited about some over-the-network dragon bubble-popping action.

However, it's worth remembering some operators, such as T-Mobile, don't like mobile game publishers using their own multiplayer platforms, so we'll have to wait and see if these games turn up on portals in the near future.
