It’s more difficult to hack the PSP 3000 than it is to hack previous iterations of the device, but Datel had ambitions to put a stop to that with its Lite Blue Tool range of hack-friendly PSP batteries.

Datel announced its device just four days after the launch of the PSP 3000, but it’s yet to hit the shelves.

Unfortunately for hackers and homebrew aficionados everywhere, it doesn’t look like it ever will. Sony is bringing legal action against Datel to keep it from selling the Lite Blue Tool.

Datel issued the following statement to Portable Video Gamer:

“Due to legal action by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe we are currently not able to fulfil orders for the Lite Blue Tool Battery. Any orders received for this product have not been processed and no charges have been made. We will inform customers about availability of this product when this situation has been resolved.”

Sorry, hackers – you’ll have to find another way in.
