Simultaneous Scrabble play possible over iOS and Android using EA’s Origin service
|

EA has demonstrated its new project Origin, playing a game of Scrabble across multiple mobile platforms.

The game itself will be available for download on Android for free from next week, and in the near future players with Origin IDs will be able to access the game via their iPads, iPhones, or Android devices, as well as their PCs.

Origin will be EA’s answer to Valve’s Steam service, enabling its members to peruse a growing catalogue of over 150 games.

The demonstration at the EA Summer Showcase focused on the argument-causing family favourite Scrabble, which was seen played simultaneously over iPad, iPhone, Android and Facebook.

Because games are stored via Origin itself, games can be started on one device and continued on another.

The Origin service also tackles Apple’s Game Center, with friend lists and leaderboards, showcased in a Need for Speed demo.

No release date has been set for the Origin service.
