Rumoured return for Syndicate is 'definitely real'
Could a remake be coming to the handhelds?

As of a week or so ago, the big new rumour doing the rounds is that EA is working on a new Syndicate game.
CVG originally broke the story, and is back with more news today - reporting that a second secret source has backed up their first story and confirmed that EA is indeed working on a new game in the Bullfrog-developed classic Syndicate series.
The source says the new Syndicate game is "definitely real" and that studio Starbreeze (which has made The Darkness and Chronicles of Riddick games) currently has the game in development.
What is known to be true is that Starbreeze struck a deal with EA last year to resurrect one of the publisher's "classic franchises", but no one knows which one. Frankly it could have been Jane's Combat Simulations or The Magic Candle.
Syndicate is probably a bit more likely though.
If the rumours are true, it leads us to wonder which formats Syndicate will be released for. The original cyberpunk city sim, which had players managing cyborg agents, bloodily assassinating rival syndicate executives, and building up their corporations, would certainly lend itself well to DS, but then Starbreeze isn't a studio with a background in handheld game development.
Perhaps the best we can hope for is that it'll be released on the home consoles first then for handheld at a later date. And hope we will, because Syndicate was great back in the day.
