New details about the Nexus Prime, the forthcoming flagship Android handset being manufactured by Samsung, have reportedly been leaked to GSM Arena.

The site's tipster, "a well informed source from the industry", shared details on the technical makeup of the device as well as some information on its branding, claiming that the handset will be shipped as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus rather than the Nexus Prime.

The Galaxy Nexus will apparently boast a 4.65-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720, a specification which lines up nicely with previous Nexus Prime rumours.

To put those specifications in context, iPhone 4’s impressive 3.5-inch Retina display manages a relatively paltry 960x640-pixel resolution.

In terms of the handset’s form factor, the tipster claims it will be a very svelte 8.8mm, and will have a curved screen similar to the Nexus S. Furthermore, the device will be wrapped in a metal chassis.

Finally, the tipster gives a US launch window of October, with the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus launching with version 4.0 of Google’s Android operating system – otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

Expect to hear more in the coming weeks.
