Rock out with Girl Band or handbrake turn with the Race Driver boys. Don't talk to Mummy...

It will be a quiet week in Handheld Game Release Land. Only six games are expected to hit the shelves over the next eight days and – over this side of the Atlantic – just one of them could be described as triple-A.

Of course, in the US, the arrival of the annual Madden release is treated with wild whooping and the sound of cash tills tilling. After all, it is the longest-running game franchise in history and on that basis, one of the most profitable, too.

Yet, some of the other releases do stir at least one A's worth of recognition. You're probably not the target audience for Imagine Girl Band, but it's worth pointing out that Ubisoft's Imagine series for young girls has been one of its most successful franchises over the past couple of years and, as well as games such as Hannah Montana: Music Jam, it hooks into a significant trend of user-generated content for the casual market.

We're also looking forward to the much delayed Race Driver: GRID. Normally 'much delayed' is a sign of weakness, but considering developer Firebrand's pedigree (if short) when it comes to DS racing games – it handled 2007's Race Driver: Create & Race as well as the more recent Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli – it shouldn't turn out to be underpowered.

As for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, well… Haven't you read the movie reviews? Ouch.
