PSP gets PSone emulation, Ouendan fans get creative, Pokemon still rules Japan, and we keep our ears warm
The Pocket Gamer blog roundup

Even intrepid explorers of the online world have to occasionally stop for a slice of cake, or so seems to be the advice from the Pocket Gamer bloggers, who started the week with lip-slapping jealousy of one man's DS-shaped birthday cake.
And the magpie tendencies continued with Robert Howell's eye caught by some Tingle nail extensions and then some incredibly camp Katamari earmuffs. Fraser MacInnes found solace in the limited edition Swarovski crystal DS Lite – a mere £360.
But in the pool of hard news, it was all about PSP, with Sony releasing firmware 3.0 which brings compatibility with PlayStation 3's online services (only in Japan and America as yet), which includes PSP support for the PSone game emulator.
Games already available include Resident Evil Director's Cut, Konami Antiques MSX Collections, Bishi Bashi Special, Arc the Lad, Hot Shots Golf 2, Silent Bomber and Tekken 2, with prices between $5.99 and $10.99.
In the real world of Japanese game sales though, Pokemons Diamond/Pearl continue to hog the top spot. Indeed DS holds seven of the top 10, even though the first two PlayStation 3 games make their entrance. Top PSP game Ace Combat X has dropped to 23rd place.
And for a fun end to the weekend, check out this fan-made film of Japanese-only cheer-squad game Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. The game is due to finally get a European release as Elite Beat Agents in 2007.
