PSP direct Store access arriving next week

Sony will give Japanese PSP owners direct access the PlayStation Store from October 15th. The news comes - according to IGN - from a Sony business briefing yesterday and will no doubt be properly announced at the Tokyo Game Show taking place at the moment.

The service will mean PSP users will no longer need to access the store through a PC or PS3 then transfer downloaded content to their PSP.

PSP owners will also be able to launch ad hoc multiplayer games by connecting to PSN through the PS3 as from October 30th. The first game to take advantage of this new feature will be the insanely popular Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.

There's no announcement as yet on when the rest of the world can expect to get access to the same services. We've contacted Sony for more information and will let you know as soon as we hear anything.
