PSP back on top of Japanese hardware sales chart as DS slumps
But it's a week of mixed results for Sony

As pointed out early this week, I wasn't exactly going to have to sit down to recover from the shock (which actually implies I stand up very often, which I don't) if this week's Japanese hardware chart showed PSP was back at number one again.
Since the release of the PSP 3000, the handheld has reportedly been flying off the shelves, with
nearly 140,000 of the things being sold in the space of four days.
So it comes as no surprise that the latest Media Create figures show that PSP was indeed the best selling console in Japan this week, having managed a massive 159,816 units.
Which is good news for Sony. Unfortunately, the news isn't all good, because they also had the worst selling console that week – the PS3 only managed to shift 4,725 consoles.
Anyway, in case you were wondering how the little DS is doing there, it came a distant second in the charts with just 29,839 for the week.
Still, expect a bit of a shake up in those numbers when DSi on November 1st (and LittleBigPlanet arrives for PS3). The PSP might not be enjoying such a comfortable lead then.
