Pirates, Pets and Pixar dominate UK handheld charts

Disney blockbusters steal lion's share of sales on PSP, but DS buyers vote with their heads

Pirates, Pets and Pixar dominate UK handheld charts
|

The latest UK sales charts from Chart Track are positively awash with blockbuster movies, with both Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars selling strongly across all formats, despite our mixed reviews.

The other trend highlights the famous British love of animals, with two editions of Nintendogs on DS being joined by Dogz, Catz and Pokemon Emerald on GBA and Lemmings and LocoRoco on PSP (well, they're sort of pets).

Take these two factors out of the mix, however, and the charts look pretty respectable. Plenty of solid games are getting their due, particularly on Nintendo DS where shoppers are clearly using their heads (and not just for brain training), keeping the charts packed with quality.
