Nokia to make games for Xbox Live Arcade?

Nokia is investigating making games for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. No, really.

At least, that's what Nokia's Aki Jarvilehto said during a panel session at today's Develop Mobile 2008 conference in Brighton.

His exact words were that Nokia is looking into concepts "where we use the same assets for Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Online". That's referring to the same assets used for N-Gage games.

It's a pretty exciting thought, and one that ties in with Nokia's launch strategy for Reset Generation, which is already out as a PC download, and may appear as a Facebook application too.

Could Nokia really port N-Gage games to Xbox Live Arcade though? One developer source expressed wariness tonight, saying that Microsoft is cautious when it comes to Xbox Live Arcade games being played in real-time against players on other platforms.

Still, it's an intriguing thought. Watch this space...
