MobGames launches budget mobile games range

MobGames launches budget mobile games range
|

The term 'budget games' brings back fond memories of our Commodore 64 childhoods, when we could go down the local high street with our £2 pocket money, buy a £1.99 cheapo game, and skip home mulling over which penny sweet to buy with the change. Happy days, even if most of the games back then were rubbish.

Not that MobGames' games are necessarily rubbish, mind, particularly not at this price.

The mobile games portal has just launched its Value range of games, selling at £1.50 apiece. The idea is to persuade gamers to take a risk on unknown games by charging the price of a pint (note to Londoners: half a pint).

The service initially includes 15 games. The pick of the bunch looks to be Sumo Sashimi, where you fire a lardy-arsed sumo wrestler out of a cannon, and Beach Squeeze, where you have to tiptoe across a crowded beach.

And yes, before you ask, these are single-purchases for £1.50 – you're not being suckered into some kind of subscription service if you buy one. You can see the full list on the MobGames website.
