After a certain age, the concept of school holidays becomes rather abstract. For those of us pocker gamers without kids (or cars - driving through the school run is a drag), the only warning is the huge number of games released in the hope parents will shell out to suck up their progenies' looming free time.

This February, the number of releases really is impressive. During the next eight days, we reckon shelves will be bulging with at least 25 new handheld games.

There's a couple of movie tie-ins, with Arthur and the Invisibles and Avatar: The Legend Of Aang, which cover PSP, DS and GBA (although the PSP version of Arthur has been delayed a couple of weeks), and the girl-friendly Charlotte's Web, on DS and GBA.

There's plenty for grown-up kids to get their fingers clicking over too – particularly PSP owners who'll be able to relive their childhoods with Sega Mega Drive Collection, Metal Slug Anthology and Bomberman, plus the retro-stylings of Every Extend Extra. Throw in the much-anticipated RPG Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony, and theme park remake Thrillville, and everyone's spoilt for choice.

There's perhaps not quite the quantity when it comes to DS, but RPGs Contact and Magical Starsign will find friends, and we'll be keen to find out whether Konami can successfully bring Pro Evolution Soccer to DS.
