With another nine countries now on stream, it's no surprise Apple has announced it's sold more than two million iPads since its North American April 3 launch.

The iPad began shipping in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on May 28, and will be available in a further nine countries during July.

"Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."

So far, 5,000 iPad-specific apps (including universal apps that work on both iPhone and iPad) have been released.
