Gameloft taking mobile games to Facebook

Block Breaker Deluxe 2, Abracadaball and Brain Challenge go social

Gameloft is taking some of its mobile games to the Facebook social networking site, following in the footsteps of Digital Chocolate, I-play and other mobile firms.

The company has released three titles as Facebook games: Block Breaker Deluxe 2, Abracadaball and Brain Challenge (the links take you to the game's application pages on Facebook).

All three use Facebook's innate connectivity, displaying your friends' high scores as you play, so you can see when you've overtaken them.

They also provide links to buy the full mobile versions from Gameloft's website, hinting that the publisher sees Facebook as a promotional tool for its mobile titles, rather than a new gaming platform in its own right.

However, this means they'll face competition from games developed specifically for Facebook that may be richer. For example, Who Has the Biggest Brain? in the brain training category.

It's clearly early days though: Brain Challenge currently has 2,532 monthly active users, Block Breaker Deluxe 2 has 1,087, and Abracadaball has 291. We'd expect those to grow in the coming weeks, if word of mouth spreads.
