Gameloft clocks up 200 million game downloads

Gameloft dropped us a line to report that the company has clocked up its 200 millionth game download since launch in 2003 – the kind of figure that blows up anyone’s skirt, we’re sure you’ll agree.

“At Gameloft, we believe that consumers are uncompromising,” says Gameloft president Michel Guillemot. “They want the best games for the mobile phone or console in their pocket or at home. They also want immediate access at the lowest cost. We channel our creativity and our determination into creating entertainment that corresponds to their expectations and their need for diversion. That includes adapting it to their lifestyle and their budget. These are the reasons they buy our games in such great numbers.”

Gameloft now boasts a catalogue of over 300 games, and plans to continue its dominance in 2009 with a host of releases for the iPhone, WiiWare, Xbox Live, the DSi and Plasystation Store and Network.

It’s also worth nothing that Gameloft rolled over the 200 million sales mark in spiffing style with two recent hits right here on Pocket GamerChuck Norris – Bring on the Pain bagged a hard hitting Gold Award, while Zombie Infection landed the developer’s first ever PG Platinum Award.

The perfect way to mark this momentous occasion, eh?

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
