Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's daily free game roundup - a feature that highlights the top App Store titles that have been made free in the past 24 hours.

Today, we have a selection a titles that allow to squish bugs, slash vegetables, kill dinosaurs, destroy monsters, shoot zombies, and hunt animals.

These games could shoot back to their normal prices at any moment, so you'd be silly not to go and grab them right away.

Eliss (iPhone)

Eliss is a fast-paced puzzler that puts you in the driving seat of a universe where planets can be blended into giant orbs, or split into smaller dwarf planets.

Your goal is make these planets disappear by altering their size and aligning them with spoked circles of the same colour. If planets of different colours manage to touch, your energy bar will be depleted.

Pocket Gamer's Mark Brown calls Eliss a game that "every human being should download".

Veggie Samurai (iPhone and iPad)

Veggie Samurai is a Fruit Ninja-esque slash-'em-up (a clone) that sees you slicing and dicing a selection of horrible veggies as you attempt to top various leaderboards.

There are six different game modes for you tackle - Samurai, Harmony, Chaos, Sort, Match, Training - each with its own set rules, time limits, perks, combos, and hazards.

The HD version even includes a seventh mode - Hardcore - and support for Apple's Game Center.

Boxhead - The Zombie Wars (iPhone)

Fast-paced shooter Boxhead - The Zombie Wars tasks you with taking on the role of Jon Bambo, a mercenary stuck in the middle of waves of zombies and fire-breathing dragons.

Naturally, you have shotguns, C4, pistols, and a range of other explosive weaponry at your disposal, plus the ability to set traps and construct mazes to slow your undead opposition.

Bugs Rush (iPhone and iPad)

Bugs, pests, creepy crawlies. Call them what you like, the fact is, everybody hates them.

Thankfully, then, Bugs Rush allows you smash, crush, pinch, slash, poke, and explode them into smithereens across four different game modes: Story, Classic, Time, and an iPad-only Multiplayer mode.

Game Center offers bragging rights.

Crystal Soul (iPhone)

Crystal Soul is a unique puzzle game blended with both strategy and RPG elements that charges you with protecting a kingdom from the threat of monsters.

You do this over 20 stages using one of three different characters, each with its own unique set of skills.

OpenFeint and Game Center are both supported.

Flying Defense (iPhone)

Flying Defense sees you flinging a selection veteran hunters at a range of horrible flying beasties, who have invaded a once tranquil kingdom.

Throughout the game's 100 stages you'll face monsters with varying capabilities, such as the ability to teleport and produce showers of electricity.

You can buy new and improved veterans to bolster your attack using in-game currency.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter (Universal)

This hunting game sees you traverse forests, marshes, and hills in search of 16 different dinosaurs, which you have to destroy using one of six weapons.

There are two game modes - Hunting, Survival - an interactive room for your dino trophies, and support for the Plus+ social gaming network.

Carnivores: Ice Age (Universal)

Similar to the title above, Carnivores: Ice Age sees you hunting down and killing a selection of wild animals, across five different maps, climates, and landscapes.

This title also gives you an interactive trophy room to display your biggest and best kills, and a nice selection of weaponry. It also features Apple's own Game Center
