Welcome to our mid-week edition of Pocket Gamer's free game round-up - a feature that highlights the top App Store titles that have been made free in the past 24 hours.

As we've stated many times before, prices in the App Store change frequently. Grab these freebies before you miss out on a top bargain.

Remember to let us and your fellow readers know about any other great free apps in our comments section below.

Additionally, you can also find out about all the latest App Store updates, price drops, and more by using the cleverly hidden hyperlink in this paragraph.

Legends of Elendria: The Frozen Maiden (iPhone)

The App Store has as many tower defence titles as it does physics-based puzzlers and Angry Birds knock-offs, but only a few of them are good enough to earn a Pocket Gamer Silver Award.

Legends of Elendria: The Frozen Maiden is one such title. This game brilliantly blends elements from both the tower defence and role-playing genres. And it's free.

Kroll (iPhone)

Kroll, which hit the App Store back in the forgotten years of 2008, managed to hack its way to a Pocket Gamer Silver Award when we reviewed it. This was, in part, due to its "unparalleled visuals and great gameplay".

The side-scrolling slash-'em-up sees you face off against waves of different opponents and bosses as you attempt to reach a floating prison. You can complete your mission over three difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, Insane.

Spacelings (Universal)

Developer HotGen's Spacelings is a puzzle title that charges you and your powerful tractor beam with pulling, pushing, and exploding your way through more than 100 levels.

Once you've undertaken your mission and begun to free the game's little aliens from their prisons, you'll unlock achievements through Apple's Game Center.
